Cougars

The cougar is known by more names than almost any other living mammal because the name used depends on location, and these cats have a wide range of habitat. Depending on where you’re from, cougars are also called pumas, mountain lions, and catamounts.

Meet the beautiful Cougar, also known as the mountain lion, puma, panther, ghost cat, and catamount to, the second largest wild cat in North America and the 5th largest cat in the world. (The first is the Jaguar, which has been pushed out of the United States. It is occasionally seen in the Southwest, when rare individuals travel up from Mexico.) Cougars have a very wide range, mostly in western United States, but we have started seeing them now in the Northeast.
